Meet the Counselor
Kate Massey, M.A.
I'm a Christian counselor who has been on both sides of the therapy room.
Before I held a counseling license, I lived through bullying, sexual abuse, and family trauma. The slow work of healing, clinically and spiritually, became the path that led me to this practice. It also became the subject of my first book, Purpose in the Pain (Covenant Books, 2025).
I hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina (License #10223). I've been in private practice for over 5 years, specializing in trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions.
My clinical approach integrates evidence-based methods, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Trauma-Focused care, Motivational Interviewing, with Christian counseling for clients who want faith woven into the work. I'm certified in STAR (trauma) and Narrative Therapy.
I work with ages 14 and up. Sessions are in person at my office at 455 By Pass 123, Suite C in Seneca, SC.
When I'm not in session, you can usually find me writing my second book (Purpose in the Waiting), speaking at women's retreats and conferences across the country (soon to be internationally), or spending time with my two mini golden doodles, Remy and Ruger.
“Kate shows empathy in therapy and is able to connect with her clients. She has a skill in helping clients feel understood.”
